Horse owners make a pilgrimage in droves to a horse clinic in Lüsche in northern Germany. They come from all over the world. This is because Dr. Jan Hein Swagemakers performs minimally invasive surgery here. He copied the technique from human medicine. As the first in the world.
For this clinic, patient Pferd sometimes takes the plane to the doctor. And lands at Frankfurt Airport.
Arte Re: "Patient Horse in the OR" shows what modern equine medicine makes possible. How much effort is put into transporting the large flight animal horse and maneuvering it onto the operating table under general anesthesia - by crane.
