Zwei neue Y-History-Dokus
How can history be told in a way that resonates today? DOKNESS is producing two new documentaries for the ARD format Y-History that connect the past and the present—told in a personal, relevant, and opinionated way.
Taboo nudity—are we more prudish than our parents?
Nudity was once an expression of freedom—today it often causes shame or debate. Reporter Lisa Muckelberg asks: How has our relationship with our own bodies changed?
In archives, nudist clubs, and online communities, she examines how attitudes toward nudism have changed over the decades – and why many young people today hesitate to show themselves. A film about bodies, culture, and a very personal taboo.
“Y-History: Taboo Nudity – Are We More Prude Than Our Parents?” – available from November 17 in the ARD media library.
AIDS, the 1980s, and my uncle Fred
Claude's uncle Fred was a prominent figure in Munich's queer scene in the 1980s—until he died of AIDS in 1998. Decades later, Claude sets out to uncover his story.
Reporter Phillip Syvarth helps Claude in his search and meets doctors, activists, and friends who experienced the AIDS crisis in Bavaria firsthand. The result is an emotional film about loss, solidarity, and the long struggle against forgetting—and about how political decisions and social prejudices shaped lives.
“Y-History: AIDS, the Eighties, and My Uncle Fred” – available from December 1 in the ARD media library.
