Nominierung Grimme-Preis 2026
The Grimme Prize jury has nominated two productions in the categories “Fiction” and “Children & Youth.” Among them is the format ‘Weitererzählt’ (Retold) from the KiKa series “Schau in meine Welt” (Look into My World). One of the four episodes is a production by Dokness on behalf of Radio Bremen.
“Mariella und Lilli – Erwachsen geworden ohne Papa” (Mariella and Lilli – Growing up without a dad)
The episode by János Kereszti (Dokness for Radio Bremen/KiKA) revisits two sisters eight years after they lost their father to a serious illness while still in elementary school. The film interweaves current footage with recordings from back then and shows on two time levels how grief changes over the years – and how young people learn to live on with such a great loss.
In addition, our beloved documentary format Y-History has been nominated for the 2026 Grimme Prize – in the “Children & Youth” category. The format was selected from over 750 submissions and is thus one of the outstanding documentary productions of the past year. This series is a great team effort by various production companies and editorial teams.
Last year, we contributed the following four productions:
- AIDS and the 80s – how did my queer uncle Fred live?
- Taboo nudity – are we more prudish than our parents?
- Racial profiling – is it a tradition?
- Why no smoking ban?
We are grateful to be part of this success. Together with our authors, creative teams, and commissioning editors, we have been able to produce cinematic journeys through time with a message for the future. It was a lot of work, a great pleasure, and a great privilege!
The award ceremony for the 62nd Grimme Prize will take place on April 24, 2026, in Marl – until then, we're keeping our fingers crossed for “Y-History,” “Weitererzählt,” all our colleagues, and ourselves!
