When the forest dies

Our documentary team has been filming the long-term project “When the forest dies” (AT) in the Thuringian Forest since 2019. Filming will be completed in a year's time and our first long-term documentary will be finished. In the summer of 2024, our editors from MDR, NDR, SWR and RBB were with us and together we looked at the vast amount of existing material in the edit. Our team of writers Silvia Palmigiano and János Kereszti worked with editor Friederike Weymar through over 100 hours of video material.

Our long-term observation tells the story of a small piece of forest in Thuringia and the life and work of the local forester.
Over the years, we have witnessed natural disasters, observed major conflicts and rediscovered the miracle of life time and time again. But we have also encountered unexpected challenges and twists and turns. One thing is already clear: we will have a lot to tell in 90 minutes.

In 2019, this was the first project that we produced green from the start. We were also able to learn a lot for our daily work in terms of production.
